
"Fly Baboo" of Swiss andr and the Greek "Astra Airlines" routes are recently brought to Cyprus. These two airlines will fly from and to Larnaca International Airport. The first Fly Baboo flight has linked Geneva and Larnaca on the 6th of July 2009. At the moment this flight is scheduled every Monday and will be served by an Embraer-190 aircraft. "Astra Airlines", the greek airline, started flying to Larnaca on the 7th of July and will connect Cyprus with several Greek Islands such as: Skiathos, Rhodes, Santorini, Kos, and Mykonos. The flights are scheduled every Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
At the inaguration of these 2 flights, passengers were greeted by the representatives of Hermes Airport Ltd and Cyprus Tourism Organisation and offered traditional sweets and drinks of Cyprus. Mr. Alfred va der Meer, the Hermes Airports Ltd CEO, has stated that "these services constitute an important development in a currently strained financial environment which has affected both Cyprus and the world due to the global recession. Fly Baboo and Astra Airlines represent an attractive choice for travelers with high demands and expectations".
