Value Added Tax to increase to 18% VAT will increase from 17% to 18% as of 14th January 2013.  It will then increase a further percentage to 19% as of January 13th, 2014. REDUCED VAT rate for non-EU nationals buying their first property in Cyprus. THE HOUSE of Representatives of Cyprus has approved several tax incentives in order to boost Cyprus economy and attract foreign investments to Cyprus. Cyprus property sales increased 54% comparing to the last year Cyprus Land Registry statistics shows a surprising increase of the property sales last month. Government introduces new incentives for buying property in Cyprus After long debates, a new legislation designed to stimulate Cyprus property sales has been approved by the Cyprus government.   According to the new law, for property sales contracts that will be signed and deposited in the Cyprus Land Registry within the next six months period, Transfer Fee will be:   • Reduced by 50% for VAT-free properties • Completely abolished for the properties that have VAT   These measures are temporary and will apply only for the property sales that will be completed within 6 months, starting from 2nd of December 2011.
