Tsada is a mountainous village of Pafos's District, in the geographical region of the wine-producing villages. It is situated at an average altitude of 600 meters. Since old times the main occupation and the basic source of income for most of the community's inhabitants was the viticulture. Apart from the vines, cereals, forage plants, carobs, olive-trees, walnut and almond trees, a few fruit-trees (apple, pear, and orange trees), and very few vegetables and legumes are also cultivated in the region.

Tsada village is located at a distance of about 10 km from the Paphos town and enjoys a relatively mild climate because of its altitude. It is cool in the summer and gets quite cold during the winter months. The community consists of about 1000 inhabitants – both foreign and native.

The village is not mentioned in mediaeval sources - it is a recent community. Traces of an old, small settlement can be found in a venue between Tsada and the Monastery of Saint Neofytos, however it is not known to which settlement they belonged. A mountaintop west of the village is named “Tsiarta” and perhaps it is etymologically related with the name of the village. The hero of the armed liberation struggle of 1955-59, Evagoras Pallikaridis, was a native of Tsada.

Ayios Neophytos Monastery - Tala, PaphosAyios Neophytos Monastery

In Tala, which is only 10 minutes drive away from Tsada, is located the monastery of Agios Neofytos. Founded at the end of the 12th century by the Cypriot hermit and writer Neofytos. The ‘Egkleistra,’ an enclosure carved out of the mountain, contains some of the finest Byzantine frescoes dating from the 12th to 15th century. In the monastery’s church there is an interesting ecclesiastical museum.

Sights Apart from the beautiful and ample view, which Tsada offers due to the position it is constructed on, it also has some structures that are deemed worthy of a visit. The “Stavros tis Mithas” monastery with its notable history; the only monk present there, Father Varnavas, would gladly tell the monastery's history to each visitor. The village's old, traditional, stone-made fountains, “Gerolakkos” (Old Pit), “Rothkios”, and “Pyathkia” (the Wells), also in their turn carry some story or another that relates to the older generations. The village's main church, “Panagia Chryseleousa”, with its miracle-making icon.

The museum and parental house of our dear departed hero Evagora Pallikarides, in which there is a guide answering the questions of the visitors.

The local, stone-made winery, inviting you to have a taste of the sweet-smelling village wine, as well as the narrow alleys of the village that take you to other romantic eras and to landscapes that relax one's eyes, complete the picturesque image of the village.

what our clients say about us

19 Mar 2010

Last week my wife and I came over to Pafos to finalise the handing over of our new apartment which has just been completed by G & V Hadjidemosthenous Ltd at Tala Riviera. This, as you no doubt know, involves sorting the water supply, electrics, insurance etc. Then of course there is the task of obtaining furniture. All in all a fair amount of work to be done and work that can be quite time consuming and even troublesome if someone is not familiar with Cyprus.

However, we were looked after by Philippa Herodotou in the customer service department. She was brilliant. Patient, informative and helpful. She made the whole process run smoothly and easily and is a real credit to the company...

I for one will be recommending the company who heartedly to anyone who asks.
